Court

A padel court is 20m x 10m, which is about a third the size of a tennis court. The courts are enclosed with fences on the sides and strong glass at the back, meaning the ball can remain active after hitting the walls. The compact size of the courts makes the game impactful, competitive and exciting, while remaining inclusive for people of all abilities.

The paddle racket is made of carbon fiber or composites which makes it lightweight and durable. It comes in different shapes such as diamond, teardrop or round. It is easy to hold even for beginner players.
The paddle ball is similar to a tennis ball in shape and color but slightly smaller and with less pressure which means the bounce can keep the ball moving for longer.

Racket and Padel Ball

Players

Padel is a game between tennis and squash. It is a flexible game, easy to play and very social as it is played in doubles teams. Padel is not a game of strength that requires good technical skills, but more of a tactical game and is therefore a game that can be played at any age and from any physical level. Whether you are a beginner, a seasoned player or an advanced player, padel is a game that everyone discovers to be an entertaining and addictive game.

Matches consist of three sets, each consisting of six games. The winners of two of the three sets are also the winners of the match. Padel uses the same point system as tennis, in a game the points are: 15/0, 30/0, 40/0, deuce, advantage or “golden point”. In the event that a set ends with an equal number of games of 6 and 6 then a “tie break” of 7 points determines the winner of the set.

The game starts with a service where the ball must fall behind the baseline and must not bounce higher than waist level during the moment of service. The service must then be hit diagonally into the opponents’ square. The ball cannot miss the wire fence on the serve, but it can hit the glass. It also must not bounce more than once before being played by the opponent. During the game, the ball must bounce on the ground before hitting the glass or fence, if it hits them before bouncing then the ball is out. If the ball bounces off the ground and hits the glass or fence, the game continues and the players can return the ball to the opponents’ court. After a smash, if the ball goes out of court then this is considered a point if one of the players was not able to get out of court and return it to the opponents’ court.
